Creating a new Character or a special Enemy is always one the best part of any game: to support this creative process, and let everybody produce a “professional” roster, I’ve just released version 0.1 of the Character Editor for BoTB and BiS: you can find it here
While this is the very first release you can create a complete unit like the following ones:
Units can be saved on the browser cookies and then re-loaded: a simple system is also avalable to place the units on a sheet.
I’m working on several new features to improve this tool: the most promising is an Enemy Generator, capable of creating a random, credible Enemy (based on the RL).
Your feedback is very important: do you believe this is a valuable tool? What features you’ll like to see added? Let me know it and I’ll do my best to work on them.
A new Military Scenario is now available for Blood in Space: Scorched Earth. In this mission you must find and destroy the breeding pods of the Xar’nag that are plaguing the surface of the Planet.
After a looong pause (sorry about it), here we are with another game aid for Blood on the Blade: this time is a simple toolkit to quickly create new Enemies for BoTB.
To create a new Enemy you proceed as follows:
Select one of the available templates (Human, Undead…)
Select one of the available attack templates
Select one or more abilities
Apply modifiers to the attributes of the Enemy
The use of modifiers allows a fine control on your new character, adding for example a stronger defense or increasing its HPs: the number of modifiers used in the design will determine the final RL of the Enemy.
Is this toolkit useful? Do you need more abilities and/or templates to play with? A waste of time? Let me know your comments/critics/suggestions to improve it!
I’ve just uploaded the files of my latest creation, Battle Drill: Battle Drill is a solitaire game of company-level combat in WW2, designed for the 2018 Solitaire Print and Play Contest.
In Battle Drill you will act as the Company Commander, issuing orders to your Platoons and maximizing your resources to complete the objectives assigned by the Battalion HQ. The current version of the game covers the ETO in 1943-45 and includes units of the US and German armies.
More info and all the required files are available here on BGG.
In the last weeks I’ve been definitely quiet: the reason is not the lack of ideas but exactly the opposite, I’m currently working on several (too many?) projects and this consumes a lot of spare time. In the pipeline:
A module for Blood in Space for high-power missions: new military missions will allow the use of MIL equipment with little restrictions, but of course you will also face stronger enemies
A Dark Ages expansion for BoTB: not sure if this will be an independent title, but surely BoTB owners will get it at a discounted price
A completely new game for the 2018 Solitaire Print and Play Contest on BGG (solo Tank combat in WW2)
Some “mini” expansions for BoTB: the idea here is to provide the tools to expand BoTB on different periods without the need to get a new ruleset. Some examples: Samurai, Pirates, Solomon Kane. In this case you can expect a revised equipment list, new enemies and ideas for new missions. Most of those expansions will be free or on a “Pay as you want” mode.
As usual, your comments are more than welcome: you can always reach me at my email address zak965@libero.it if you don’t want to use this blog.
Looking at the statistics of this site, it looks like a lot of people is still interested on Blood on the Blade an his companion Blood on the Dungeon.
I’ve then decided to provide some new (free) content for both titles: the updated version of Blood on the Dungeon is now available (all the customers should have received an email), including
A new scenario for Blood in Space is now available: download the Scenario sheet for “Distress Signal” here.
The Scenario can be played as an interlude in your campaign and features a couple of special enemies: a defensive turret and a mutated Xeno. As always, comments, suggestions and critics are welcome!
The first addon for Blood in Space is now available: a new set of equipment and weapons to make your game more fun and create more personalized characters. In addition to drugs, smoke grenades, nano armors you can also find a new optional rule for the grenade scatter, for those willing to add some more realism to the game.
The new equipment is available here: comments, suggestions and critics are always welcome
I always admit that my English is not very good, but selecting a wrong title for a game is probably a World record: so I apologize, and “Blood on the Space” now become “Blood in Space”. A new title, a revised cover, minor changes to the original content: and a great Thanks! to the very first person that made me realize my mistake.
And in case you’ve missed it, Blood in Space is now available with Blood on the Blade on a bundle on WargameVault: a great opportunity to get both titles at a discounted price (ok, I’m again a little bit partial here)
The Tavern Brawl is an iconic moment of every sci-fi and fantasy movie/comic/book, and I cannot think of a serious skirmish campaign without a serious brawl.
This scenario, being an interlude in your campaign, can be played any time you want. And if you really like this idea, you can also spend one XP to gain a new trait
“Brawler”
That provides a +1 DRM to your Attack roll only when playing this scenario.
Let me know your comments! What about a special list of “guests” to use in the brawl for example ?
