For Bologna Play 2026, I’ve create a new Postcard Battle. This time the micro-design experiment focused on the Battle of Auerstedt, on October 14, 1806, and in particular the actions of Étienne Gudin’s 3rd Division. As with the previous one (dedicated to Monte San Gabriele, which you can find here), I tried to create, within the space of a double-sided A5 sheet, a solitaire game in which the player has to make decisions, not just roll dice and hope for good luck.

The PDF is designed for printing on A5 sheet, but you should be able to adapt the print to A4 or Letter paper without any loss of quality. The PDF is available here.

Historical notes (from the game). At dawn, near Auerstedt, the 3rd Division of Étienne Gudin marches through the fog expecting minimal resistance, but stumbles into the main Prussian army. Outnumbered, the division captures Hassenhausen and resists the relentless attacks of Blücher’s cavalry and infantry, buying time for Davout to bring up the rest of the corps.
